Toyota Tundra Maintenance Schedule Times & Mileage

The Toyota Tundra service schedule occurs every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. Then, there is another maintenance interval at 10,000 miles or 12 months, followed by 15,000 miles or 18 months and 30,000 miles or 36 months for more involved maintenance as your pickup truck gets older. 

The first oil change occurs at 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.

5,000 Miles or 6 months

• Rotate tires.
• Visually inspect brakes, wiper blades, and fluid levels.
• Top off any fluids that may need it.
• Check the installation of all floor mats.

10,000 Miles or 12 months

Everything from the previous maintenance, plus:

• Replace the cabin air filter.
• Replace engine oil and oil filter.
• Visually inspect the brakes, brake pads, brake lining, and brake discs.

In order to have an oil change at this stage, use full synthetic oil that meets Toyota’s standards for quality, such as genuine Toyota oil.

15,000 Miles or 18 months

Everything from the 5,000-mile Toyota scheduled maintenance, plus we’ll inspect the:

• Ball joints
• Dust covers
• Brake lines and hoses
• Drive shaft boots
• Engine coolant
• Exhaust pipes and mountings
• Radiator and condenser
• Steering gear
• Steering linkage and boots

We might replace the engine air filter at this point in your vehicle’s maintenance to keep the combustion chambers working properly. We’ll re-torque the propeller shaft bolt and lubricate the propeller shaft on 4WD models. We might adjust some fluid levels if they look low.

20,000 Miles or 24 months

Everything from the 10,000-mile and 12-month timeframe

30,000 Miles or 36 months

Everything from the 10,000-mile/12-month timeframe and 15,000-mile and 18-month timeframe, plus inspect the following:

• Automatic transmission for signs of leakage 
• Ball joints and dust covers
• Brake lines and hoses
• Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs Drive shaft boots (4WD)
• Engine coolant
• Exhaust pipes and mountings
• Front differential oil (4WD)
• Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band, and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
• Fuel tank cap gasket
• Radiator and condenser
• Rear differential oil
• Steering gear
• Steering linkage and boots
• Transfer case oil (4WD)

Moving forward, your Toyota technicians will let you know what needs to be replaced or fixed at every six-month interval. Of course, we always encourage you to bring in your vehicle if you hear or see something amiss, like a serpentine belt noise, tire noise, or grinding brakes. 

At the 45,000-mile mark, we might recommend new tires, new brakes, and perhaps new spark plugs because some of these items will be close to their regular maintenance. If you drive in less-than-ideal conditions for much of your drives, you might have to replace these items sooner.
